Visit the Mount of Beatitudes – The Mount of Beatitudes is situated on the North Western shores of the Sea of Galilee. This beautiful serene site is the place traditionally attributed to the location of the Sermon On The Mount.

The site boasts a Roman Catholic Franciscan chapel which was built in 1938 near the remains of Byzantine Church from the 4th century.

Many groups who visit the Holy Land have visited this site and spoke of the serenity and beauty that surround this location. Being very close to other sites mentioned in the Gospel stories including Capernaum and Tabgtha (Place of the loaves and fishes), this site is a one not to be missed on your tour of the Holy Land.

 

Tips and advice for your Holy Land Tour

Tip 1: When visiting the Mount of Beatitudes please ensure you wear clothing which is respectable. Visitors wearing above knee length shorts, or vest type tops (which show shoulders) will be refused entry into the site. There are a few other sites around Israel which also hold to these rules so when travelling it is always a good idea to pack a shawl to cover legs (or a longer pair of shorts) and a cardigan to cover shoulders, should the need arise.

Tip 2: While in the grounds of the Mount of Beatitudes take a walk around the outside of the Catholic Monastery. To the right of the fence surrounding the site you will see a large field. This field is a probable location of where Jesus fed the 5000 and taught many of his sermons.

Tip 3: While touring in this area ensure you Holy Land tour includes visits to Capernaum and Tabgtha. Other possibilities include Mount Tabor, Cana and Bethsaida.
