Embark on a profound journey with Elbow Holy Land Tours on our One-Day Old & New Jerusalem Tour. This exclusive private tour begins with your personal Christian guide collecting you and your group directly from your hotel in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv. From there, you’ll be whisked away for a full day of insight, revelation, and blessing as you discover the eternal city, exploring both its ancient roots and its vibrant modern heart, all while tracing the biblical narratives woven into its very fabric.

A Walk Through Sacred History & Modern Wonders

Our meticulously planned one-day tour focuses on key Christian sites and significant historical landmarks, offering a comprehensive understanding of Jerusalem’s unique spiritual and cultural tapestry.

Morning: Modern Jerusalem – Faith, Remembrance & Scripture

Your spiritual journey begins in the “New City,” where we connect with significant aspects of modern Israeli history and the enduring legacy of faith.

Towards the Israel Museum & Yad Vashem:

Along the route, your tour includes visits to:

  • Yad Vashem (The World Holocaust Remembrance Center): Experience a solemn and moving tribute to the six million Jewish martyrs, offering a crucial understanding of Jewish history and resilience, a testament to God’s enduring covenant with His people.
  • The Israel Museum: Discover a treasure trove of artifacts, including the world-famous Shrine of the Book, housing the Dead Sea Scrolls – ancient biblical manuscripts that confirm the remarkable preservation of God’s Word
  • Jerusalem Model: Gain a unique perspective with the impressive model of Jerusalem during the Second Temple period, providing invaluable context for understanding the city Jesus knew.

Afternoon: Old Jerusalem – Walking in Biblical Footsteps

Following a short lunch break, we delve into the ancient heart of Jerusalem, literally walking where prophets, kings, and Jesus Himself once trod.

The City of David & Ancient Jerusalem:

Following your morning exploration, our guides will lead you into the ancient City of David, the very birthplace of Jerusalem and King David’s capital. This archaeological site offers a tangible connection to biblical narratives.

  • City of David: Stand in the very places where King David reigned and composed his Psalms. Imagine his gaze over the Kidron Valley, connecting with the ancient stories of the Old Testament.
  • Hezekiah’s Tunnels: Experience an incredible engineering marvel – an ancient water tunnel hewn out of solid bedrock. Walk through this remarkable testament to biblical ingenuity.
  • Pools of Siloam: Arrive at the traditional site of the Pools of Siloam, where Jesus performed one of His profound healing miracles (John 9:1-12). Reflect on the power and compassion of Christ.

Finishing the Day: Ben Yehuda Market & Contemplation:

As the day concludes, we transition to a vibrant modern experience.

  • Ben Yehuda Market (The Shuk): Explore the colorful bazaars and bustling stalls of this lively pedestrian street, a perfect opportunity to soak in the atmosphere of modern Jerusalem and reflect on the day’s spiritual insights.

If time allows:

  • Western Wall / Kotel Area: (If time permits) We will endeavor to visit the Western Wall, a sacred site for Jewish prayer, offering a glimpse into the ongoing spiritual life of Jerusalem.

One Day New Jerusalem Tour – Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions we get asked about the One Day New Jerusalem tour

What makes this tour unique for Christian visitors?

Our One Day Old & New Jerusalem Tour is specifically designed with Christian pilgrims in mind. Your private guide is a knowledgeable Christian who will highlight biblical connections at every site, offering spiritual insights and focusing on locations significant to the Old and New Testaments, allowing you to truly walk in the footsteps of faith.

Will we have time for prayer and reflection at the biblical sites?

Absolutely. As this is a private tour, we can be flexible. Your Christian guide understands the importance of these moments and will provide ample opportunity for personal prayer, reflection, and contemplation at key biblical sites such as the City of David, the Pools of Siloam, and the Israel Museum (with the Dead Sea Scrolls).

Is the tour suitable for all ages and fitness levels?

The tour involves a fair amount of walking, especially in the Old City and at sites like the City of David and Hezekiah’s Tunnels. Hezekiah’s Tunnels involve walking through water (usually ankle-deep) in a narrow, dark space. While generally manageable, participants should be able to walk for extended periods and navigate uneven terrain. If you have specific mobility concerns, please inform us when booking so we can discuss alternative arrangements or modify the itinerary.

What should I wear and bring on the tour?

We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, as there will be significant walking. Modest attire is advised, especially for religious sites (shoulders and knees covered for both men and women). It’s also a good idea to bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle, particularly during warmer months. For Hezekiah’s Tunnels, consider wearing water-friendly shoes or sandals.

Are meals included in the tour price?

Meals are not included in the tour price. However, your guide will arrange for a convenient and appropriate lunch break during the day, where you can purchase food and drinks.
